Hi, I’m Daniel Johnston. I’m a sixteen year old boy from Western New York who loves reading and reviewing books. I have many interests and passions; and action/adventure books are one of them.
I’m not a paid reviewer for any big books companies, I’m not an author, I haven’t taken any book review courses. Which makes me the perfect guy to help you with your book needs. I’m a real person, and I don’t have any contracts, no secret associations. I’m going to tell you the pros and cons of a book and whether I would recommend it or not.
This Site
One or two times a week; I’m going to be posting a review of a book I read. I’ll give the description and what I liked and didn’t like. I’ll also sometimes make videos and possibly occasionally audio.
I’m going to put what I like and don’t like; so the matching of our preferences may have something to do with whether you like my reviews. Nevertheless, I’ll give some of the plot and description of the story, too (not the full thing!); so you can decide for yourself.
Why This Site?
There are a number of similar sites out there. You’re probably thinking, “What can this guy do for me? He’s just a kid!”
You’re right. That’s one of the unique angles of this site; this a good place to check out books for your kids. I also welcome younger readers as well, of course. Many people review young adults books-but it’s rare for someone of that age to actually write a review themselves.
Besides, it’s not like I’m just a clueless kid who has no experience in this space. A review of mine was once published in the local newspaper. I’ll try to give a carousel of books; not just the popular ones trending-but ones that run the gamut. Books that you wouldn’t hear about elsewhere. At the very least, it’s a great way to find about new books and book ideas. I won’t sugarcoat it like the publishers; lying and twisting things is commonplace for them in their descriptions. Rest assured you’re safe from that on this site.
About Me
I’ve always enjoyed reading, and I’ve bounced around a number of different genres. In terms of the fiction realm, although I used to enjoy some fantasy a few years ago, I loathe it now, and only read fiction stories in action/adventure mainly. I also want to give reviews for some biographies, too.
I used to stay up often to late hours of the night reading and reading. I don’t do that anymore (I need my sleep!), but I still frequently read a book in a single sitting, and usually read about two to three fictions books in a week.
I was mainly turned on to the current books I read when I was introduced to Gordon Korman. He is still my favorite author. Especially the book Swindle I really enjoyed; and I have mainly read that genre ever since.
Thanks so much for reading this and I hope to see you on the site!
