According to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), every website must not only disclose affiliate links, but also have a larger disclosure policy page, too. So here it is.
First, at the present, I make no money from ads off of this website. I used to on my old site, but subsequently took those down. I had made only $14.73 from them; so it wasn’t anything major. They were ugly, displayed all kinds of silly and inappropriate things I didn’t necessarily recommend, and were taking up space on my site. So I no longer have them.
I do have affiliate links, however. In case you’re unfamiliar; affiliate links are special links you place on products, so if someone buys you get the commission for the sale. I currently only do affiliate marketing for the Amazon Associate (affiliate) Program, and often give links to books that I recommend.
A lot of people might object to me using affiliate links. If that’s how you feel-it’s totally fine. You can still read my blog and just not buy through my links. However, I work hard on this site to deliver great content to you and give you good reviews, so I have no problem with asking people to give me a small commission for the sale if they buy a book as a result of my careful recommendations. This is how I plan to finance the site, and will help expand it and make it bigger. Once there starts coming in a significant revenue stream, I plan to hire more reviewers so the content of the site improves.
Just letting you know I make money off of this site (or at least try to). I must say that it by no means my main motivation. If my main motivation was to make money; I’d be doing things other than this site. Also, Amazon’s Affiliate Program only gives 4% to 8% commission; so it’s not like I’m going to get rich writing this blog. I really enjoy reading and writing reviews, and want to help people in their reading. I also want to discover new books myself, too, and learn new things from our discussions of these books. To check out some of these reviews I’m talking about, just head over to the Archives. To find out more about this site, me, and how I can help you, check out the About Page.
